New york's Daniel is on the move

One of New York's most prestigious restaurants is on the move. Daniel, owned by chef-proprietor Daniel Boulud, is leaving its premises in the Surrey Hotel next month to reopen in a larger location at the Mayfair Hotel on 65th Street and Park Avenue in January 1999.

In the meantime, the site of the first Daniel will be taken over by Café Boulud, Boulud's attempt to recreate a 1930s Parisian café in New York. He also owns the city's Payard Pâtissserie & Bistro on Lexington Avenue.
