Next move… for a regional systems trainer
I am a regional systems trainer covering 35 UK hotels. I train people on four different IT systems, but was originally employed to train on one and my salary reflects this. What pay should I ask for?
The answer
Congratulations on expanding your role. As often happens when a role evolves internally the package does not. So have a one-to-one chat with your line manager and highlight how your role has evolved and what additional responsibility you are now undertaking. It would be useful to go prepared with some salary information for similar roles. Talk to IT consultancies that might be able to give you a guideline to your market worth. Look at the trade press for adverts containing salaries for similar roles. When you have your information, arrange your meeting. Keep it constructive, calm and objective. Agree a time frame in which your line manager will return to you with an outcome.
