Nigel Farage in Edinburgh pub lock-in for his safety
UKIP leader Nigel Farage found himself in an Edinburgh pub lock-in as police sought to ensure his safety.
Police had to barricade the doors of the Canons Gait bar after dozens of protesters surrounded the building shouting "racist Nazi scum".
The politician was holding a press conference at the pub, ahead of a Scottish parliament by-election.
Farage attempted to make his escape in a taxi, but demonstrators stopped it leaving and he had to be escorted back inside by police.
He was later escorted away in a police van.
