Norfolk pub to host Michelin-starred chef for beer and food matching event
The Ship Inn at Weybourne in Norfolk is to play host to a beer and food matching event involving Michelin-starred chef Richard Bainbridge (pictured) and Norfolk micro brewery Grain.
Grain is experimenting with flavours to help restaurateurs recommend real ales to their diners and the brewery's Phil Halls will appear alongside Bainbridge from Mortson Hall to explore the possibilities of partnering real ales with gourmet food.
The menu will consist of six courses, paired with selected Grain ales to complement the flavours of each dish.
"For me, beer and food matching used to mean a packet of pork scratchings and a pint of bitter, but after working with Richard and Terry, I see that combining the right flavours can really enhance the diner's experience," said Phil Halls, joint founder of Grain.
Dishes on offer during the evening include lightly smoked saddle of Norfolk horn lamb, tomato jam, salt baked celeriac, purée haricot beans and light lamb jus matched with a glass of Grain's Best Bitter, voted by the Campaign for Real Ale as Champion Beer of Norfolk for 2011.
Tickets for the food and beer matching evening at the Ship, Weybourne, on Monday 5 March 2012 cost £45.
