One-cup filters hold their own

Research by Rombouts suggests that, despite the boom in catering use of authentic espresso machines, one-cup filters are still twice as popular as a method of making fresh coffee.

Nearly a quarter 150 outlets approached by researchers employed one cup or individual coffee systems. Most popular coffee making option in the survey was the three-pint pour and serve machine, which easily exceeded any other method. Cafetiäres showed up well being the method used at 25 per cent of outlets.

Awareness of the Rombouts brand was evident among 65 per cent of caterers surveyed. The sample split as follows: hotels (25 per cent), restaurants (13 per cent), pubs/clubs (43 per cent) and cafes/leisure (19 per cent).
