One year on, Paramount sells Hellaby Hall

Paramount Hotels has sold its four-star Hellaby Hall hotel in South Yorkshire, almost a year after putting it on the market.

The 17th-century listed property, in Hellaby, near Rotherham, went for about £4m to businessmen Gerard and Carl Hanratty, of Ireland. They have formed a partnership with Prima Hotels, which will run the hotel.

Paramount put Hellaby Hall on the market in September last year, through agent Christie &Co, because it felt that it did not fit with its other, larger hotels, each with more than 100 bedrooms (Caterer, 21 September 2000).

Hellaby Hall has 52 bedrooms, with planning consent for 30 more. It also has two restaurants, a bar-lounge, and a leisure suite. Its turnover is £2.7m per year, excluding VAT.
