Orchid to install 3D TV in 85 pubs ahead of Premier League match
Pub and restaurant operator Orchid Group is to install 3D televisions in 85 of its venues ahead of Manchester United's game against Chelsea on 3 April.
The move comes after Orchid Group's Manchester pub, the Sawyer's Arms, was selected by Sky as one of nine pubs nationwide to show the Arsenal versus Manchester United game in 3D on 31 January.
Sawyer's Arms general manager, Jess Harris said: "Our customers were impressed and unanimously agreed they'd choose 3D over 2D. The close-ups and low camera angles made the most of the technology and everyone was glued to the screen for the whole 90 minutes."
The 85 pubs being fitted with 3D TV including selected Free House, Free House Dining, Fresh, Bar Room Bar and Ultimate Leisure outlets.
Simon Dodd, Orchid's commercial director, said: "This is going to be a huge summer for sport, with the World Cup in South Africa as well as the launch of live 3D Premier League football. We're investing in our pubs to make sure that watching the big match at an Orchid pub is the next best thing to being there."
