Over to you
How would you describe the current state of mind of your customers?
They're merry and happy. I think it definitely has to do with Christmas. Business isn't doing too badly either, and people have a bit of money to spend. It also doesn't hurt being world champions at something.
KELVIN MACDONALD, MANAGING DIRECTOR, BANKSIDE RESTAURANT AND BAR, LONDON
People definitely seem in better spirits at the moment. I think it's been a difficult year, after Mr Bush's war, but now spirits are higher. Whether they spend more money or not is another matter.
JAMES LOWE, OWNER, VILLA ITALIA, YORK
My customers are in very good spirits, but then they always are. I think that as long as one can maintain consistent levels and hospitality, people can forget what's going on outside.
BOB OBERHOFF, OWNER/CHEF, THE DOVE RESTAURANT, NORFOLK
Yes, people are quite bright at the moment. I don't even think they need a good reason to be, but then Christmas is just around the corner.
DIDIER GARNIER, PROPRIETOR, LE COLOMBIER, LONDON
Customers should all be getting into the Christmas mood, unless you serve them a scrappy bit of turkey. I've told the boys and girls there's no sitting down until January. At the Lochgreen hotel it's not really the place where girls run around in Santa hats, but down at the Brig o' Doon it's more party-like. There'll be plenty of people trying to snog their secretaries.
WILLIE PIKE, DIRECTOR OF FOOD, COSTLEY & COSTLEY HOTELS, AYRSHIRE
