Owners of Suze in Mayfair voted Kiwis of the year

A husband and wife team who own Suze restaurant and wine bar in London's Mayfair have scooped the New Zealander of the Year Award 2006.

The awards recognise New Zealand or British nationals who have enhanced the antipodean country's profile in the UK.

Kiwi couple Tom and Susan Glynn have been promoting New Zealand-sourced food and wine in London for the past 25 years at Suze, which serves Pacific Rim influenced food at its location near Selfridges department store.

Tom Glynn said: "It is our passion to source new and interesting quality wines and food products from throughout New Zealand for our discerning and enthusiastic customers at Suze in Mayfair."

"It has been an exciting time to have been part of the emergence and growth of New Zealand wine and cuisine in the UK and we hope to be involved in it for many years to come."

The Glynns were presented with their award at the Dorchester hotel in London last Friday.

Previous winners of the award include Peter Gordon, chef-proprietor of Providores in Marylebone.
