PB Developments buys Aberdeen pub from Signature Pub Group
Pub firm PB Developments has bought the Bieldside Inn in Aberdeen from Signature Pub Group for around £1.5m.
PB Development Company (PB Devco) has a portfolio of eight venues in the city, including: Soul, Soul Casino, the College, Babylon, the Forum, the Stage Door, the Queen Vic, and Zen Oriental.
The deal comes after Signature decided to sell the Bieldside Inn to concentrate on the acquisition and development of city centre bars.
Garreth Wood of Signature Pub Group said: "We are delighted that PB Devco have bought the Bieldside from us. We have very much enjoyed running the business for the past eight years and we wish Stuart Clarkson and Bob Calder every success with their new venture."
PV Devco commented: "PB Devco has been trading successfully for over 25 years and was founded by Stuart Clarkson and his father. To this day, PB Devco is still a family business, with Mr Clarkson's two eldest sons playing a key role in the business. It is this family-friendly business orientation that Mr Clarkson has in mind for his new venture at the Bieldside Inn, which will be managed by Bob Calder, Stuart Clarkson's brother-in-law, who has worked for PB Devco for 23 years."
David Reid of Knight Frank, which brokered the deal, said: "There was good interest in the sale and it shows that even in a difficult market, quality businesses will always sell."
