PAUL NICHOLSON has resigned as non-executive chairman of Swallow Group and has been replaced temporarily by former executive director ANTHONY WOOD. Meanwhile, TIM WALKER, formerly finance director of Strix Group, a privately owned engineering company on the Isle of Man, has been appointed finance director of Swallow. He takes up his position on 26 April.

BILLY TRUESDALE has been promoted to general manager of Saltire Leisure's £4.5m Holiday Inn Express in Stirling, Scotland. He started at the hotel last year as guest services manager.

ANN YUILLE has been promoted to general manager of Houstoun House hotel in Uphall, West Lothian. She was rooms division manager and prior to that held the same position at Inchyra Grange in Falkirk, Stirlingshire.

MARTIN HART has been appointed head chef of the Michelin-listed Helter Skelter restaurant in Brixton, London. He joined as sous chef last October and before that worked in Ireland as head chef at Day's hotel, Inishbofin.

LOUISE CAINES has become manager of the Délifrance French bakery and coffee shop in Bristol with responsibility for 25 staff. She was previously manager of the Boulevard restaurant in Bristol.

SHANE WILLIAMS has taken over as general manager of the Devonshire Fell Hotel and Bistro in Burnsall, North Yorkshire, which is closed for refurbishment and reopens in the summer. He was manager of Heathcotes Brasserie in Preston, Lancashire.

JIM McKENZIE has been promoted to director of golf and courses management at the Celtic Manor Resort hotel in Newport, Gwent. He was in charge of estate management and oversaw the development of three courses at the resort, the latest being a 7,450-yard par-72 course, which opens in May.

JOHN BOWLER, former area manager with Nelson Hind Catering Management, has been promoted to general manager of operations, with responsibility for looking after the company's client base throughout the North.

CLAIRE CARDINAL has been promoted from conference and banqueting manager to sales executive at the Pine Lodge hotel in Bromsgrove, Worcestershire. She has been replaced by CARYN MASTERS who previously worked as banqueting manager at the Strathallen hotel in Birmingham.

NIKI CURTIS, formerly personnel and training manager at Jean-Christophe Novelli Restaurants, has joined IBG recruitment in London as a consultant.

JOHN GRAY, formerly business development manager at Cambridgeshire Catering Services, is the new food service trade manager at the Meat and Livestock Commission (MLC). DEREK ANDREWS has also been promoted to product and recipe development manager at the MLC. He was development and promotions manager of a smaller catering division at the commission.
