MICHAEL NOWLIS has been appointed chief executive officer of the Paris-based International Hotel and Restaurant Association. Formerly director of the Institut de Management Hôtelier International in Paris, he takes up the post on 23 August.

OLIVER SCHULZ-JANDER has taken over at Marygreen Manor hotel in Brentwood, Essex, as assistant manager. His appointment follows a three-year apprenticeship at a Relais & Chateau hotel in Hamburg, Germany.

RICHARD WALTON, previously executive head chef at Carlton Hotel in Bournemouth, has taken over as head chef at Chilston Park Hotel in Maidstone, Kent.

SIMON DEWICK has returned from the Caribbean, where he was assistant manager at the Mariner's Hotel in St Vincent, to become assistant manager at the Parsonage Country House Hotel in Escrick, York.

SARAH FRENCH has been promoted to marketing manager for the UK hotel division of Queens Moat Houses. She was previously leisure product manager for the group.

KAREN ROGERS has joined the Millennium Britannia Mayfair in London as director of sales and marketing. She was director of sales at London's Langham Hilton.

PAUL ROGERS has been appointed general manager of the Quay Thistle hotel in Poole, Dorset. He was operations manager for the Posthouse hotel in Croydon.

NICK EVENDEN is the new owner and head chef of Soufflé restaurant in Bearsted, Kent. He was previously head chef at the Café Royal in London.

ERIC FENIET has been promoted to corporate food and beverage director from food and beverage manager at Coco Reef Resort on the Caribbean island of Tobago.

JANET JENKIN has taken over as catering manager for Blackburn Rovers Football Club. She was head of catering and retail operations for Granada Theme Parks, based in Manchester.

VIBEKE LARSEN has been recruited to director of sales and marketing at the Montcalm Hotel Nikko London. She was European sales manager for the Essex House Hotel Nikko New York, in London.

ELAINE VAUGHAN has been appointed UK sales and marketing representative for the Carenage Beach and Golf Club on the island of Canouan in St Vincent in the Caribbean. She previously ran her own sales and marketing company.

SIMON ELLIOT, business development manager for Gardner Merchant Education Services, has joined Sydney-based Nationwide Facilities Management as business development manager for Eastern Australia.

JO PICKERING is new corporate communications manager for the Yorkshire Tourist Board. She was marketing executive for self-adhesive laminate maker Raflatac.
