Also at De Vere, John Rogers has been appointed marketing director for the group. John previously held the same position at coffee bar operator Costa. The role is a new one, developed after the position of director of marketing and strategy was split into two roles. Former holder of this role Alaister McNee has become corporate planning director.

Husband-and-wife team Steve and Diane Smith have joined Campanile UK's Birmingham hotel as general managers. Before joining the 111-bedroom property, the couple worked at the Lower Slaughter Manor and Washbourne Court hotels, both part of Von Essen, in Gloucestershire.

Marston Hotels has revealed the management team for its new four-star hotel, the Cambridge Belfry, on the outskirts of Cambridge. Heading the team as general manager of the 120-bedroom hotel is Philip Thomas, an Acorn Award winner, who has latterly been working in the same role at the company's Tankersley Manor hotel in Barnsley, South Yorkshire. Philip's deputy is Niall Bird, who has spent the last year carrying out relief management duties for Marston. Looking after the front office at the Cambridge Belfry is Lisa Oldroyd, who joins as front office manager. Lisa has lived in Cambridge before, and prior to her appointment she opened two serviced residences for Singapore-based Ascot International. ### Pubs and bars The Twisted Oak, a pub in the village of Ide, near Exeter, Devon, has come under new management. Marcus and Linda Osbourne, previously managers of the Puffing Billy pub in Exton, Devon, have moved to the Ide pub. Moving with them from the Puffing Billy is Michael Balbi, who has taken on the role of head chef, a step up from his previous position as sous chef. ### Plus…
