Park Plaza Hotels Europe has welcomed Hugh Hilary as general manager of the Park Plaza Cardiff, a 129-bedroom hotel opening early next year. Hugh has worked in the industry for 20 years and has worked in the Welsh capital's Thistle hotel and the Angel Hotel. The Great John Street hotel in Manchester, which will feature 30 duplex suites when it opens later in the year, has appointed David Toulson-Burke general manager. David was previously deputy general manager at the Crowne Plaza Cambridge. ### Restaurants Frankie & Benny's, part of the Restaurant Group, has two new restaurants in Birmingham and Telford, Shropshire. Joining the 134-seat Birmingham restaurant, at the Broadway Plaza leisure complex, as general manager is Trevor King. Trevor has previously held assistant manager positions at both TGI Friday's and Jeffersons Restaurant and Bar in Birmingham. Heading up the 140-seat Frankie & Benny's at the Telford Forge Retail Park is Guy Ward, who was formerly area manager for the Midlands at Baker's Oven.

Barry Tonks has become head chef of the 80-seat Bonds Bar and Restaurant in the City of London. Barry has been head chef at McClement's in Twickenham, Middlesex, and senior sous chef at John Burton-Race at the Landmark. ### Plus… Timeshare company Trendwest Resorts, part of Cendant, has appointed Franz Hanning president and chief executive officer of Trendwest North America. Franz has been president and chief executive officer of Cendant's Fairfield Resorts timeshare chain since 2001 and will retain this role alongside his new position.
