Hotels

The three-red-star, 14-bedroom Langshott Manor, near Gatwick, Surrey, has a new general manager, Simon Steele. Simon moves from Coulsdon Manor in Croydon, Surrey, where he was deputy general manager.

Restaurants

Ben Warren, deputy lounge manager at the Mirabelle restaurant in Eastbourne's five-star Grand hotel, has changed roles. Ben has become manager of the 50-seat restaurant.

Oliver Peyton's Inn the Park restaurant in London opened this month with Daniel Morgan as general manager. He joins the 200-seat St James's restaurant from Oliver's Mash restaurant in London, where he held the same role.

Pubs and bars

James Kerr-Muir has been appointed non-executive chairman of brewer Hardys & Hansons, following the retirement of Richard Hanson. James is non-executive chairman of an engineering company and a finance company. He is also a non-executive director of pub operator Yates Group, although he will retire from this position after the group's annual general meeting.

ESS Support Services Worldwide, a division of Compass Group dealing with defence catering, has recruited two new members of its senior management team. Tom Price joins as operations director for the company's Royal Air Force business. Tom was previously managing director of his own business, unrelated to the industry, and prior to that was head of food services at retail company Woolworths. Richard Brenner has been appointed pay-as-you-dine project manager and will deal with introducing this facility to defence services. Richard was previously a regional operations manager for Whitbread. ### Plus… Bob Cotton, chief executive of the British Hospitality Association, has been appointed a visiting fellow of Bournemouth University. The appointment at the Dorset university is for three years. Whitbread has announced that Angie Risley is to join its board from May. Angie has been the group's human resources director since 2001.
