Police arrest hotel conmen duo
Police hunting a couple who have conned hotel owners in North Yorkshire have arrested a man and woman.
John Gill, 43, and Michelle Starkie, aged 20, from Manchester, appeared before Northallerton Magistrates charged with four counts of obtaining goods by deception.
The pair are accused of staying at the Sundial Hotel and Windsor Guest House in Northallerton and the Gallery Guest House in Thirsk, as well as the Wellington Heifer pub at Ainderby Steeple and leaving without paying.
Gill is also accused of stealing £3,000 from the Wellington Heifer. They were both remanded in custody.
The offences were carried out last month and led North Yorkshire Police to warn hoteliers to be on their guard.
