Prime Minister visits Wychwood brewery and ‘understands' pub industry
Prime Minister David Cameron "understands" the pub industry, according to Marston's chief executive Ralph Findlay, who was talking after the Premier visited Wychwood Brewery.
Cameron called into the home of Hobgoblin for a constituency meeting and met with Findlay and his board colleagues to discuss industry issues over lunch.
Findlay said: "We were delighted to welcome the prime minister to Wychwood, we discussed a number of industry related issues. He has a good understanding of the key issues which effect pubs and breweries, he is passionate about the role of the pub in the community.
"We discussed the pressure on pubs from regulation, investment in the sector and the role of the leisure sector employing young people."
The group also discussed Marston's new build strategy, employment creation and the tax burden on the industry.
Mr Cameron has visited the brewery previously in his role of constituency MP for Witney, Oxfordshire.
Findlay concluded: "The meeting was productive and relaxed. The prime minister does understand our industry and values the pub in the community."
