Qantas wants restaurants in the sky

Qantas, the Australian airline, is taking a restaurant-style service approach to its first-class dining, following the appointment of top chef Neil Perry.

Instead of food being prepared and plated on the ground, there is greater in-flight preparation and food is plated in the aircraft galleys.

"We have been able to dispense with the traditional service trolleys and introduce a more personalised style of service," said Perry, who is considered to be one of Australia's finest chefs.
