QHotels appoints Russ Brown as food and beverage director

QHotels has appointed Russ Brown as food and beverage director to drive the food and drink offering of the group's 26 four-star hotels across the UK.

Brown, who has more than 35 years' experience within the hospitality industry, joins from Radisson Blu Edwardian Hotels, where he held the same role. While there he launched a number of independent restaurant brands into the portfolio, as well as a food and beverage training academy.

This new role sees Brown return to QHotels, having previously worked as executive chef at the group's Crewe Hall in Cheshire.

Michael Purtill, managing director of QHotels, said: "We serve a range of customers at QHotels, from leisure guests looking for a relaxed or special dining experience, to conference and events delegates who need energising and sustaining food they can eat at their convenience. The challenge is to ensure our food and beverage service consistently exceeds expectations.

"The key is understanding our guests' preferences and ensuring we keep our menus relevant and exciting. Our ‘Inspired by You' ethos means we're always listening, and recently we introduced the meal-ordering app TellTheChef, which is helping us identify and respond to the latest trends across our group."

He added: "Russ will play a lead role in helping us deliver food and beverage excellence across our hotels, and bring in talented young chefs, who are inspired by the latest trends."

Brown said: "This is a fantastic move for me. I'm looking forward to going back to my roots at QHotels, which helped me establish my career in the hospitality industry many years ago. The emphasis and investment that QHotels is placing on food and beverage in the coming year and the opportunity to shape that is hugely exciting."

QHotels recently announced it plans to create 100 new apprenticeships this year and a total of 300 by 2017.
