Regent Inns puts twelve more pubs up for sale
Regent Inns, the embattled pub operator, has put five Walkabout pubs, six New Orleans and one Bar Risa up for sale as part of its ongoing property review.
The five Walkabout sites are in London's Shaftesbury Avenue; Putney; Newport; Grimsby; the Walkabout/Jongleurs in Edinburgh; while the Risa/Jongleurs is in Cardiff.
Asking prices for the leasehold interest in the sites range from nil premium to £250,000. The free-of-tie leases, which date from 1998 onwards are all for periods of 25 years and above, with Putney running to 2040.
The Old Orleans sites are located in Brighton, Cambridge, Ellesmere Port in Cheshire, Kingston-upon-Thames, Oxford and York.
The company is looking at ways to reduce its costs after disappointing sales at the end of 2007 led to it entering early stage talks over the potential sale of the company.
Anthony Jenkins, associate director at property agent Christie & Co, which is handling the sale, said: "Regent Inns is currently carrying out a review of its property portfolio and is looking to dispose of a number of non-core sites.
"These six high-turnover opportunities, which are part of this process, offer interested parties the chance to operate established properties in prime city and town centre locations."
