Restaurant in Tel Aviv counts the cost of Middle East violence
The violent disruptions to the peace process in Israel spilled over into an assault on one of Tel Aviv's restaurants last week when a 2,000-strong mob of Jews tried to burn its Arab staff alive in the building.
It is understood the anti-Arab crowd surrounded the Jewish-owned Yehuda Avazi restaurant in Etsel Street, smashed windows and drove out diners.
The mob then battled with Israeli police as they tried to reach the 20 Arab staff locked inside before setting fire to the restaurant.
Restaurant employees were unwilling to talk to about their ordeal.
However, on Friday, they confirmed the damage to the restaurant had been fixed, but that no re-opening date had been announced.
