Restaurants provide food for relief workers

New York's Union Square Café is helping with the relief work in the city by delivering food to fire stations, police stations and hospitals.

The restaurant, ranked the most popular in the city by the New York Zagat guide 2001, is owned by Danny Meyer.

Meyer, who also owns other restaurants in the city, said: "The situation in New York right now is devastating and we are trying as best we can to help.

"Each one of our restaurants has been cooking and delivering food. Waiters and cooks are also donating blood. The doors to each restaurant are open for community members who just need a place to be."
