Revolution Bars reports strong first half thanks to three new openings

Revolution Bars Group saw sales rise 2.7% to £59m for the first six months of its 2016 trading period.

The 60-strong bar group opened three new sites in the 26 weeks to 26 December 2015, including Revolución de Cuba bars in Milton Keynes, Leeds and Nottingham. It said that trading at these sites was ahead of pre-investment expectations.

Two new bars are planned before the end of the financial year in June, taking the estate to 62 sites.

Chief executive Mark McQuater said: "Our new sites at Milton Keynes, Leeds and Nottingham have all started trading well. These sites were open and trading for the Christmas period and, for the six weeks to 2 January, Group sales rose by 7.0% compared to the prior year, indicating the impact of adding new bars."
