Robuchon to launch chefs' TV channel

Award-winning chef Joel Robuchon is to launch France's first gastronomic television channel later this month.

Gourmet TV will be broadcast 24-hours a day on France's satellite and cable channels from 20 March.

Robuchon - who had three Michelin stars between 1984 and 1996 - will present his own show on the station, with other programmes presented by a stars from the French cooking world.

It is even hoped some celebrity British chefs like Jamie Oliver, Gary Rhodes, Ainsley Harriott and Antony Worral Thompson will agree to make programmes for the channel.

The new station also has the backing of 130 working chefs who between them boast a 180-strong constellation of Michelin stars, a statement released by Gourmet TV said.
