Sodexho announces job losses

Contract caterer Sodexho is understood to have made up to 70 people redundant. The company this week admitted there had been some lay-offs, but refused to confirm the number or whether any high-profile people were included.

One or two key figures from the group's business and industry sector are thought to have been among the redundancies, but most are expected to have come from Sodexho's non-core operations such as vending.

A spokeswoman for the group said: "Sodexho can confirm that it has been making changes which will result in some job losses in the UK and Ireland." She added that the redundancies were part of an "ongoing review" of the group's resources and that they were in line with Sodexho's "strategic objective to improve human resource planning, operational management and cost control across the business."
