Stein plans new beach restaurant

Rick Stein and partner Jill Stein will today unveil plans for two new restaurants in Newquay, Cornwall, linked by a cliff railway.

The Steins intend to open a new restaurant in their clifftop Rocklands Hotel and link it via a cable car-type lift to the second restaurant, on Tolcarne beach about 100ft below.

The £3m project will include either the complete refurbishment of Rocklands, or even demolishing and rebuilding it.

The designs will go on show this afternoon in Newquay.

The plans have been welcomed by Newquay Association of Tourism and Commerce.
