Stembridge is named MD at Chewton Glen

Andrew Stembridge, general manager of the Scotsman hotel in Edinburgh, has been appointed managing director of Chewton Glen, the five-star country house hotel in Hampshire. He replaces former managing director Peter Crome, who is joining Skibo Castle, the private members' club in the Scottish Highlands.

At the same time, former L'Ortolan chef-director Alan Murchison has been appointed executive head chef at the hotel, following the abrupt departure last month of the hotel's previous head chef, Pierre Chevillard. Murchison starts at Chewton Glen in September.

Stembridge, 32, joined Chewton Glen in January 1997 as operations director and went to the Scotsman five years later as operations manager. He takes up his position at Chewton Glen in October.
