Stonegate Pub Co to open Missoula Bar in York
The new restaurant and bar is to open on Bridge Street on 14 February. It forms part of a wider refurbishment plan for the pub operator, which has invested over £240,000 on the new site.
The opening will create 30 new jobs under manager Chris Smith, who brings several years of experience in hospitality to the role. Front of house manager, the Montana-born Molly Smith, has already begun to train staff in an "intensive" customer service programme.
The all-day restaurant will offer an American, Montana-inspired experience in line with other Missoula venues, including breakfast bacon and eggs and stacked waffles until midday. The afternoon and evening offer will include steaks and traditional dishes such as the bison burger, plus a selection of classic and new cocktails with names such as the "Huckleberry Lemon Drop".
There are already several Missoula sites across the UK, including in Birmingham, Doncaster, Chelmsford, Colchester, Cardiff, and two in Manchester.
The Stonegate Pub Company has eight sites in York - and manages over 600 venues in total nationwide â' and has already spent £570,000 on its refurbishment programme across the city. Its brands include the Slug and Lettuce, Scream, Yates, Classic Inns, Varsity and Smith & Jones.
Vince Williams from the Stonegate Pub Company said: "We are delighted to be bringing Missoula - Montana Bar & Grill to York. Through years of operating successful businesses within the city, we know that there is a real demand from the residents and visitors of York for a quality drinking and dining experience that offers exceptional customer service and fantastic food."
