Street food brand Rola Wala to open permanent Leeds site
Indian street food brand Rola Wala is to open its first permanent restaurant, having secured a site at Leeds Trinity Kitchen.
The move comes after the London-based business had a successful April residency in Trinity Kitchen, which plays host to a variety of pop-up street food concepts throughout the year.
Rola Wala is due to open in the site previously occupied by café Notes, which closed the site to concentrate on its operations in London, later this month.
Founded by Mark Wright, Rola Wala serves "the most epic Indian street food flavours possible, in an 8-inch naan roll". At the heart of the operation is its Robata ‘Mega Flame Grill', taking a prominent position in its large open kitchen. The menu will include favourites such as the BBQ coriander chicken and beetroot dal, as well as new items such as the vegan channa dal felafel.
Wright said: "We started on the streets of London and in a little over a year we're opening our first restaurant. From our time trading at Trinity Kitchen in April we found that the people of Leeds love top quality food; Leeds has got it going on and we are going to bring it! For us it's all about going that little bit further to deliver the best dishes we can, from the local Yorkshire produce we use, to the quality of our freshly ground and roasted spices, it's all about ingredients; our rolls have up to 43 of them so we need them to be the best!"
