Enzyme solution

Cleenol used the Cleaning Show to launch Cleenzyme Enzyme Drain Maintainer for keeping the pipework leading from urinals free of scale build-up from uric acid.

The enzyme is poured into urinals, where it coats the inside of the pipework and will not be washed away by flushing. Over a period of weeks the enzyme colony will build up, digesting any matter which might otherwise cling to the pipework, causing odour, hygiene and possibly plumbing problems. Cleenzyme can also be wiped on hard flooring around urinals to combat scale and odour problems there.

Top mop

Cleaning materials supplier SIR International has designed a mop and wringer-bucket with a dirt filter that prevents grease and debris in dirty wash water being mopped back on to the floor. The filter fits close to the bottom of the bucket so that when the dirty mop is immersed for rinsing and wringing, the debris falls to the base of the bucket and cannot be picked up by the mop.

New kid in a block

Bio Productions launched a urinal block at the Cleaning Show containing an enzyme which releases into the pipework and breaks down smells and uric acid scale build-up.

Like other enzyme-based, waste-channel cleaning agents, the blocks take time to work, but once the enzymes become embedded in urinal pipework, they will keep it clean.

Non-slip floors

Traction Plus is a grease and dirt solvent designed to combat the problem of slippery floors caused by a build-up of food waste in kitchens or soap in washrooms.

The product, which can be applied by housekeeping staff, is poured neat on to solid flooring. The detergent immediately breaks down engrained dirt and fat, and when washed off not only restores the grip surface of tiles, but imparts an anti-slip coating.

Once flooring has been deep-cleaned, there is a maintenance fluid which keeps the surface grease-free.

Cleaning timer

For use in high-traffic toilets such as those in motorway service areas, Cannon Hygiene has produced a digital timer which shows when the area was last cleaned and when the next cleaning is due. It is a battery-powered flat box, and the display counts down the minutes to the next clean-down. If the time is exceeded without being reset by the cleaner, the display changes from green numbers to red numbers.
