Thistle hits back at reports

Thistle Hotels has denied reports that its banker, the Royal Bank of Scotland, has appointed accountancy firm Ernst & Young to review its business.

The hotel company was responding to claims made in the Sunday Telegraph yesterday.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /?>

Thistle said it had not held discussions with either the Royal Bank of Scotland or Ernst & Young regarding any review.

The hotelier has suffered in the wake of 11 September and the downturn in the global economy. Shares in the company have fallen by about a third since November 2002.
