Top suppliers take a bow at the first Catering Update Excellence Awards
The great and the good of the food and drinks supply industry gathered at London's Landmark hotel last week for the inaugural Catering Update Excellence in Food and Drink Awards. The awards, run in association with sponsor 3663, were established to recognise excellence among products available in the food service sector, and were open to small and large suppliers.
"We wanted to give food service suppliers the recognition they deserve for the innovation and imagination that goes into developing products," said Catering Update editor Kathy Bowry.
Each product was prepared according to manufacturers' instructions and tasted by a panel of chefs, operators and product development experts, who were looking for quality in taste, texture and aroma and excellence in presentation and packaging. Pupils at Meridian County Primary School in East Sussex judged the Children's Food and Drink category.
