Touch-screen kiosks go live in London

More than five London hotels are to have interactive information kiosks in operation over the next fortnight.

The touch-screen kiosks will provide tourist information in six languages from sight-seeing to the best places to eat.

The hotels, including Whitbread's Travel Inn Capital in Putney, the Forum Hotel Inter-Continental and the Holiday Inn, both in Kensington, have paid an installation fee of roughly £10,000 depending on the hotel's size.

The kiosks include four channels: what's on; shopping guide; sight-seeing; and eating and drinking. An extra channel can be added with the hotel's information.

Hotels will also pay an annual maintenance fee averaging £6,000 depending on the complexity of information used.
