Tower to put £5m into conversions

The Tower of London is spending £5m on converting its armouries building into a restaurant, banqueting hall and conference room.

The restaurant, on the ground floor, will seat 250. The banqueting hall will accommodate as many as 300 seated or 500 for cocktail receptions, and the conference room on the top floor will seat up to 150 delegates.

There will also be a small board room for private meetings.

The venues will open in October 2000 and will be run by Digby Trout Restaurants.
