Tribunal backs adelphi waitress

A silver service waitress sacked by Eileen Downey, general manager of Liverpool's Adelphi Hotel, has won £1,312 in back pay at an industrial tribunal.

Eileen Seiga was sacked in July while the Adelphi, star of the BBC documentary series Hotel, was being filmed coping with the arrival of passengers from delayed flights at Manchester Airport.

Seiga told the industrial tribunal that Downey "screamed" at her and fellow staff to get out when they refused to work overtime.

Seiga was given her old job back on 3 November. But the industrial tribunal awarded her back pay for the time between July and November when she was out of work.

Britannia Hotels was not represented at the tribunal.
