ULG set to open Bank Heist in Paddington in May

Urban Leisure Group (ULG) is continuing its expansion drive in London with the opening of the Heist Bank in Paddington in late May.

Located in the Merchant Square development, the venue brings UGL's stable of restaurants and bars to a total of eight.

Heist Bank's opening closely follows the launch of the Coin Laundry, in Finsbury's Exmouth Market, earlier this year and will be followed in the late summer by a third Alice House which will be located in the old Putney Station formerly run by Brinkley's Restaurants.

Both openings have been delayed by some months. A ULG told The Caterer the delays are due to building works. She added: "ULG wants to get them right and make sure they are perfect."

The Heist Bank and the Alice House openings are part of wider plans by ULG to open six new sites this year which will bring the company's portfolio to a total of 13 venues.

Operating as a relaxed day-to-night venue, the 6,000sq ft venue which has outside seating for 50, will serve freshly made pizzas from its Italian wood-burning oven and a wide selection of local beer and wine.

Heist Bank's pizzas will feature local cheeses, cured meats and seasonal toppings. There will also be a range of small and large plates on the menu, including fresh salads and slow roasted lamb, steak and trout, all cooked to perfection in the wood burning oven. A Mr Whippy ice-cream machine with grown-up toppings is also available.

The restaurant will be filled with flowers which guests can buy from in-house artisan florist Botanique, who launched its first flower shop on Exmouth Market late last year.

Guests will also be able to borrow bikes stationed outside the restaurant to explore the nearby canal and local area.
