Under new management

marsh farm deal

Marsh Farm Hotel in Swindon, Wiltshire, has been acquired for about £2m. Former general manager of the Cardiff Moat House, Tim Turner, has become joint owner with restaurant owners Paul Butler and Elizabeth Byrne. The 32-bedroom hotel, which has conference facilities for up to 400 people, is currently being refurbished.

The 119-bedroom Manor Court Hotel in London's South Kensington has been sold to an overseas property developer for £7.5m. It is understood that the developer plans to convert it to a residential property.

London's fine line

Fuller Smith & Turner, the west London brewer and retailer, is investing £5m in a bar chain called the Fine Line. The first two bars will open this month in Fulham and Battersea. Others in London's Canary Wharf, Bow and Clapham are planned later this year.

Liver la tasca

La Tasca, the Spanish restaurant and bar chain, is opening in Liverpool in August. The new La Tasca will be at Queen's Square, a new city centre development. The company is spending £320,000 on fitting out a 3,800sq ft unit.

Sutcliffe at DSS

Sutcliffe Catering, part of Granada, has won the contract to provide catering at 140 Department of Social Security benefit agency sites, worth an annual turnover of £7.5m. Sutcliffe previously catered at more than 100 of the sites but won the additional 40 in a competitive tender.
