Under new management
Walkabout moves on
Pub operator Regent Inns has shelved plans to turn a former London nightclub into a three-floor pub.
The decision came two weeks after the group failed to get the necessary licences to open a Walkabout at the Home nightclub in Leicester Square.
Chief executive Stephen Haupt said the group had just bought two large city-centre properties: the Limelight nightclub on Shaftesbury Avenue and Shoeless Joe's on the Embankment. Both will be converted to Walkabout pubs, with the Shaftesbury Avenue site opening later this month and the Embankment one by November.
