Underage drinkers can't fool Carly

Despite being too young to be served an alcoholic drink, CARLY WEBSELL has been promoted to bar manager at the Leicester Inn in Coalville, near Leicester.

Websell, 17, is halfway through an NVQ modern apprenticeship in bar management at the pub. She is the only full-time worker among its five staff members. Before her promotion she spent a year doing general bar work.

As bar manager, she is able to use her insider knowledge to clamp down on underage drinking, as many of the teenagers who try to get served alcohol went to the same school as her.

Websell's ambition is to open a bar or pub of her own.

But this will have to wait, because it will be another four years before she is old enough to apply for a publican's licence.
