Wadworth produces Red, White and Brew to celebrate 2012
Devizes-based brewer Wadworth has launched a new beer to commemorate a summer of celebration in 2012 - Red White and Brew.
The beer is designed to appeal to customers from both home and abroad intent on enjoying the Diamond Jubilee or the Olympic Games.
"The summer ahead is a great opportunity for pubs, with tourists ready for a taste of real Britain, and the Brits themselves in celebratory mood," said sales and marketing director Paul Sullivan. "We've brewed a Great British beer to appeal to the patriotic party atmosphere that we are confident will prevail throughout the season."
Red White and Brew was initially created in a small batch by the Wadworth microbrewery in the New Forest, the Red Shoot. It was given a trial at the Wadworth beer festival.
"From the first tasting it was clear that this was a beer that deserved a place in the spotlight," said head brewer Brian Yorston. "It is a charismatic celebration of all things British with a zesty, hoppy nose and a fresh, cleansing palate developing into a strong bitterness. It is a real thirst quencher, powerfully hopped, and golden in colour with a 4% abv."
Red White and Brew will be available in the cask from pubs nationwide from June to August. Wadworth does not intend to bottle this beer.
