Walkabout bar in Cardiff takes £169,000 on a single day

The Walkabout bar in Cardiff broke its own record for trading in a single day on Saturday when it took £169,000 thanks to a weekend of sport.

The figure was £25,000 up on the Intertain-owned bar's previous best performance.

Sporting fixtures over the weekend included Wales vs France, one of three Six Nations rugby games, which saw Wales take the Grand Slam.

Meanwhile, the recently refurbished Temple Walkabout bar saw £60,000 in takings, and the newly refurbished Watford bar traded at capacity throughout Saturday.

John Leslie, chief executive of Intertain, said: "The trading figures help reinforce our position as the best sports bars on the high street and are further proof that the refurbishment investment is already starting to pay off".
