Wetherspoon's tests find no horse meat in any menu items

JD Wetherspoon has confirmed that no horse DNA has been found in any of its menu items.

The pub operator had been testing all items containing beef and lamb, as well as pork sausages. It said the independent tests found no trace of horse DNA.

Wetherspoon chief executive John Hutson said: "We use reputable suppliers and control our own distribution network and have full traceability of the meat that is on our menu.

"The results of our own tests, together with those of our suppliers, highlight our commitment to food safety within our pubs."

It has published a full question and answer list on the issue on its website for customers with concerns.
