Worldwide beanfeast

Four mixed-bean salads have been launched by Stratford Upon Avon Foods (SonA) under the brand name Bean Harvest. The varieties are Mexican, Indian, Italian and Five Bean Salad, all in cases of six 800g cans of about 10 servings.

Mexican salad features red kidney, black turtle and pinto beans, with jalapeño peppers and tomatoes. The Indian has black-eyed and baby lima beans, with green and red peppers in an aromatic sauce.

Borlotti, red kidney and flageolet beans, green and red peppers, sliced black olives and a tomato and herb sauce are found in the Italian Bean Salad. And the Five Bean Salad includes black turtle, Dutch brown, Great Northern and red kidney beans in brine.

Pavlovas to Salivate over

Three pavlovas have been launched on the catering market by Aulds. All offer a meringue base and are circled with swirls of dairy cream and teardrop meringues. The three are: Sticky Toffee pavlova with a buttery caramel sauce; New Raspberry pavlova with whole raspberries and a tangy mousse; and Gin and Orange pavlova featuring a creamy orange mousse and a gin-laced topping of mandarin segments.

Each case holds one pavlova of 10 portions. New Raspberry and Gin and Orange weigh 1kg, while Sticky Toffee weighs 700g.

Cook and hold for perfect rice

A rice cooker that has been designed to give "perfect results" has been launched by Samsung and will be distributed by Apuro. The SJ420 commercial rice cooker incorporates a one-touch "cook and hold" facility that keeps riceat the correct temperature once cooked.

It has a 4.2-litre capacity, which is enough for about 24 portions, and takes 12 minutes to complete a cooking cycle.
