Here's the beef

Frozen food distributor Fairway has added premium beefburgers to its range. Pure Beefburgers are 100% seasoned ground beef, Premium USA Burgers are 90% beef, and American Seasoned Burgers are 80% beef. The burgers will chargrill, deep-fry or oven-bake and come with grill scoring on the surface.

All three burgers are available as 56g or 113g in cases of 48.

Fresh, French and frozen

The products are five sizes of croissant, five sizes of pain au chocolat, three sizes of pain au raisin, a chocolate and crème pÆ'tissière twist, an almond triangle, an apricot croissant, and two sizes of chausson, in apple, raspberry and apricot flavours.

All the products are manufactured in Brittany and for customers in the London area there is the option to have the products delivered ready-baked or buy them as thaw-and-prove before baking.

Chicken for children

Boneless chicken shaped into cartoon-style doggy bones is the latest fun-shaped chicken product for children from Norfolk company Grampian Foodservice. Wacky Wishbones are 25g re-formed chicken pieces, breaded, cooked and frozen.

Hot to the core

Digital thermometers are useful for chefs to test the core temperature of meat and stop the cooking process when the desired temperature has been reached, giving the degree of cooking needed. They are equally important for testing the temperature of chilled and frozen goods coming in from suppliers.

Sifam have added three new low-cost digital thermometers to their Digitron range under the Digimate brand, ranging from a pen-type probe to a hand-held unit with separate probe. All three have sensitive error ranges and will read temperatures from at least -50ºC to +150ºC.

Cereal chillers

Kellogg's has launched a complete cereal breakfast pot, including a pot of chilled milk, folding spoon and, where appropriate, sugar. Kellogg's To Go Twinpots are available in Bran Flakes, Cornflakes, Crunchy Nut Cornflakes, Special K and Frosties. The milk is UHT, so the product is ambient, but Kellogg's strongly recommends the product is served from a chill cabinet.
