White Swan to showcase South African wine ahead of World Cup
Tom and Ed Martin's White Swan pub in London's Fetter Lane is hold a special wine-matching dinner to celebrate South African wine ahead of the World Cup.
The pub is set to serve a five-course feast, paired with a selection of wines from the prestigious South African wine estate Vergelegen.
The evening will be hosted by Andre Van Rensburg, chief wine maker at Vergelegen, who will encourage diners to taste different vintages, as well as teaching them to ‘swirl and nose' like an expert .
The five course menu includes:
• Seared scallops with smoked aubergine and glazed baby onions/
• Vergelegen Flagship White 2008
• Roast monkfish with Parma ham, tomato fondue and persillade/Vergelegen Reserve Chardonnay 2008
• Wood pigeon with braised endive/Vergelegen Reserve Merlot 2006 Yorkshire venison loin with heritage carrots and soured turnips/Vergelegen V 2004
• Berkswell and broad beans/Vergelegen Flagship Red 2004
• Coffee or tea and petit fours
