Wolverhampton and Dudley Breweries' Marston's Pedigree a British Icon?

Wolverhampton & Dudley Breweries' Marston's Pedigree ale has been nominated to become an official Icon of England.

The Icons website was launched by Government Culture Minister David Lammy and features nominations ranging from the routemaster bus to the Savoy hotel.

As St George's Day approaches, members of the public are encouraged to log on to the website www.icons.org.uk and vote for their favourite English symbol to whittle the list down to the final 12.

Other nominations include flushing toilets, pantomime dames, hedges, garden sheds and boiled eggs with toasted soldiers, along with more permanent icons such as Cambridge University, Lake Windermere and the Midland Grand Hotel, St Pancras.
