Wristwatch-style pager

LATEST pagers in the Waiter Call system are so small that they can be worn on the waiter's wrist if necessary rather than clipped on clothing or belt. Supplier Bell Technologies provides a watch strap type holder which enables the pager to be used without removal from the arm. (Typically, staff are signalled by means of vibration rather than needing to look at the display).

Bell Technologies reports widening use of its Service Call system, which enables staff to be alerted directly by customers in a variety of situations such as private dining rooms, conference suites, hotel lounges and hospital rooms. It comprises a mini-transmitter which can be used either in a bellbox or in a compact plastic carrying case about the same size as a pack of cards.

The system is completely wireless and when the bell is pressed a signal is sent to a Receiver Panel in a manned staff area. The panel identifies the source of the call and gives out an audible alarm if necessary. Transmitters are priced typically under £100.
