RF’s Roman buy

RF Hotels has bought the lease of the historic Hotel delle Russie, built in Rome in 1818 by architect Valadier and now housing flats and offices. It plans to open it in summer 1999 as a 120- to 130-bedroom five-star hotel, after a £7m refurbishment. RF has poached Granada’s Mareno Occhiolini to run its Italian hotels.

Returning east

Holiday Hospitality will open three properties in eastern Europe and Russia by April. It will revive its war-checked franchise agreement on the Holiday Inn Sarajevo in Bosnia-Herzegovina; in Romania it will open the 138-bedroom Holiday Inn Resort Sinaia (formerly the Hotel Mara); and in Russia it will open the new 154-bedroom Holiday Inn Moscow-Vinogradovo.

Mandarin in Miami

Mandarin Oriental International has linked with Swire Properties to build an $85m hotel in Miami, Florida, to open early next year. The 290-bedroom hotel, with a 200-seat restaurant, will be on Brickell Key island.

Mercure buyout

Accor has bought the Hotel Mercure in La Défense, Paris, which it has managed since 1992. It paid more than £25m for the hotel to a subsidiary of investment company GAN.

Radisson add-ons

The latest additions to Radisson Hotels Worldwide include the 178-bedroom SAS Park Lane Hotel Antwerpen in Belgium; the 206-bedroom Radisson Resort Daytona Beach in Miami; and the 240-bedroom Radisson Hotel Figueroa (formerly a Crowne Plaza) in central Los Angeles.
