Catering & Allied, the London-based contractor, has appointed a new managing director 12 months after parting company with its last one.

Dan Wright, who was director of international brand development at Compass, joins on 7 September.

Wright said his appointment did not mean Catering & Allied planned to bring in high-street brands, but the company did need to adapt to a changing market, particularly the “squeeze” on the amount clients are prepared to subsidise their staff catering.

Catering & Allied’s chairman, Marc Verstringhe, said Wright’s commercial experience, leadership and language skills would help the firm “enhance our competitive advantage”.

The previous managing director, John Houston, left the firm by mutual agreement last August.
