Nelson Hind gain


Nelson Hind Catering Management has won the contract to cater and clean for 550 people at genetic research campus Hinxton Hall in Cambridge. The contract, worth £380,000 in annual turnover, was run by Gardner Merchant.


Family business sold


Tricolos, Scarborough’s 190-seat pizza and pasta restaurant, has changed hands after 60 years’ ownership by the Jaconelli family. New owners Nick Thomas and Maurice, Nigel and Ian Finnigan paid slightly below the £295,000 sought by agent Christie & Co.


Second Wetherlodge


JD Wetherspoon is to open its second Wetherlodge on 17 December. Located in Glenrothes, Fife, the 26-bedroom Golden Acorn hotel will charge £30 a night on Fridays and Saturdays and £35 on other days.


Written in the Sand


First-time hoteliers Callum and Carol McGregor have bought the seven-bedroom Ocean View hotel in Laide, Wester Ross, in the Scottish Highland region, and renamed it the Sand hotel. They paid a sum “quite far below” the £190,000 asked by agent Robert Barry & Co.


Latona’s fifth


Bath-based Latona Leisure Group has added a fifth hotel to its portfolio with the acquisition for close to £550,000 of the 40-bedroom Mendip Lodge hotel in Frome, Somerset.
